DAN HOWARDREV. BRIAN MCKEERebecca “Becky” Joyce Webb, 61, of Philadelphia, Mississippi passed away from cancer on Tuesday, February 18th while being surrounded by her loving family. More than anything else, Mrs. Webb wanted her loved ones to know and trust the Lord. Mrs. Webb was born in Barstow, CA on March 20th, 1952 to Joyce Smith and the late George Aaron Smith. She graduated from Watkins High School in Laurel, MS. Pursuing her lifelong passion to teach, Mrs. Webb graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi and spent over twenty-five years teaching. She was a National Board Certified Teacher and was devoted to her students, their families, and her colleagues. She was an active member of First Baptist Church where she served and loved the Lord joyfully alongside dear family and friends leading Girls in Action and women’s Bible studies, teaching Sunday school, and being an active participant in WMU throughout the years. She is survived by her husband William Rex Webb, daughter Rachel Noelle Harbarger, son-in-law Dr. Claude Franklin Harbarger, and granddaughter Lois Elizabeth Harbarger of Augusta, GA; daughter Miriam Elise Medlin and son-in-law David Michael Medlin of Jackson, MS; and son Thomas Andrew Webb of Jackson, MS. She is also survived by her mother Joyce Smith and beloved brothers Chris (Marci), Marty (Carol), and Alan (Gloria) Smith, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and extended family.Pallbearers were Michael Medlin, Dr. Claude Harbarger, Donny Smith, Carl Walin, Alan Smith, Chris Smith and Marty Smith. The Webb family would especially like to thank the caring staff of Jackson Oncology Associates and St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS, loving co-workers at Philadelphia Elementary School, devoted family at First Baptist Church of Philadelphia, MS and countless others who loved and supported Mrs. Webb over the past few years as she fought the good fight with the promise of life everlasting from her Father and Creator.
