DAN HOWARDMr. Mathis, 66, of Philadelphia, died Monday, February 3, 2014 at Rush Foundation Hospital in Meridian.He was a native of Marrero, Louisiana and had lived in Neshoba County for the past 13 years. He was a heavy equipment operator most of his life. He served six years in the Army National Guard of Louisiana. Mr. Mathis was a member of Coffadeliah Masonic Lodge #371 and attended First Baptist Church in Philadelphia. Survivors include his wife, Susan “Candy” Mathis of Philadelphia; daughter, Suzette Mixon of Philadelphia; son, Wayne Mathis, Jr. of Marrero, LA; grandchildren, Alan Mixon, Edwin “Ray” Mixon, Tiffany Mixon, Taylor Mathis, Tabitha Fernandez, and Trevor Fernandez; great-grandchildren, Destiny Mixon, Sadie Mixon, and Hallie Mixon; sister, Linda Orgeron (Robert) of Marrero, LA; and nieces, Brandi McElhaney of Keller, TX and Michelle Arbourgh of Belle Chasse, LA.Mr. Mathis was preceded in death by his parents, William and Jenny Mathis; and a brother, John Mathis.Pallbearers were Wayne Mathis, Jr., Alan Mixon, Ray Mixon, Taylor Mathis, Junior Bell, Harold Eakes, Ed Williamson and Elry Ryals.
