DAVID UPSHAW Mrs. Woods, 75, of Philadelphia, MS, died Saturday, January 18, 2014 at her residence. She was a native of Neshoba County and a longtime resident of the Sandtown community.  Betty had a genuine love for people, a servant’s heart, and was always involved with church and community projects and events as long as she was able.  She will be remembered for her love of life,  love of family and friends, and her love for God whom she faithfully served. She will be remembered for her years of service in her church and her community.  She felt her Lord guiding her in a banner ministry at Sandtown Methodist Church as she passionately and prayerfully sought His will and messages to be created and made into banners.  She was an accomplished seamstress, creative and meticulous.  She was a skilled furniture maker, enjoyed going antiquing, and could out walk anyone on those outings.Betty was gifted with a beautiful voice which she used in praise, to inspire, to uplift, and to comfort as needed in church, for weddings and funerals.  She was a loving devoted wife who worked alongside her husband, Will, on their farm as long as her health permitted.  She dearly loved her son, Casey, Brandi, and their children.  Her grandchildren, Kassie and Drew were precious to her and are blessed to have lifelong memories made with “BeBe”.  Her youngest grandson, Garrett, was always able to bring a smile or chuckle from “BeBe” by bringing her flowers he picked in the yard, or sometimes, a  frog or a  lizard.    She never lost her quick wit or sense of humor.  No none could ever hope for a kinder, more loyal, or more loving friend.  Having the gift of mercy, she understood both the joys and the sorrows of those around her and had a way of ministering and showing God’s love.  She lives on in the special and beautiful memories she made with all who loved her.Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Will Woods; son, Casey Woods (Brandi); grandchildren, Kassie Woods, Drew Woods and Garrett Woods, all of Philadelphia;  brothers, Anderson Hall (Sue), Bobby Hall (Betty), all of Philadelphia and Mike Hall (Pam) of Columbia; sisters-in-law, Faye Hall of Philadelphia, Dorothy Lawrence of Canton, Peggy Woods of Arkansas and Pat Woods of Fullerton, CA; numerous nieces, nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thurman and Thellis Hall; brothers, Ed, Russell and Arden Hall and sister, Patsy Hall.Pallbearers were Al Woods, Burt Woods, Willie Irons, Jeff Lundy, Kevin Cumberland, Steve Cumberland, Tam Jayroe and Mike Savell.  Honorary pallbearers were Garnell Daniels and local members of Gideons International.  Memorials may be made to Gideons International.
