FRED BRITTONFrances Marshall Blalock died peacefully on January 5th after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s at The Windsor Place in Columbus, MS.She was born on November 21, 1933 in Philadelphia, MS to the late Herman and Helon Marshall. She was a devoted mother and doting grandmother. As an accomplished seamstress she made all of her three daughters clothes throughout their childhood and youth.Frances was a dedicated employee of McRae’s Department Store for over 18 years until early onset Alzheimer’s forced her retirement. She was head of alterations at the Meadowbrook store and then moved to the Northpark location and headed up their alterations department. She was member of Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson and loved her Sunday School Class, New Promises. Frances was also predeceased by her brother, Ben Allan Marshall and her daughter, Suzanne Norwood.She is survived by two daughters, Debbie Hutto (Billy) of Brandon and Nancy Powell (David) of Birmingham, AL; son-in-law, Mark Norwood of Cleveland, MS; and seven grandchildren, Brad Hutto (Maren) of Ridgeland, Blake Hutto of Jackson, Matt Norwood of Jackson, Drew Norwood of Jackson, Daniel Powell (Norma) of Dallas, TX, Melissa Powell of Tuscaloosa, AL and Madeline Powell of Birmingham, AL.Pallbearers were Daniel Powell, Matt Norwood, Brad Hutto, Blake Hutto, Drew Norwood and Benji Marshall.
