GREG FORTENBERRYBobbie Barnes Gamblin, 83, passed away on October 16, 2013, at Brandon Court Nursing Center after an extended illness.Bobbie was born on September 4, 1930, in Neshoba County, Mississippi. She was raised in Neshoba County and was a graduate of Longino High School and East Central Junior College. She resided in Jackson for most of her adult life with her husband and their two sons. She moved to Rankin County in 2006 and lived there until her death.She was a longtime member of Broadmeadow United Methodist Church and greatly enjoyed her work with the United Methodist Women. She worked for many years as an executive assistant at Robot Coupe USA in Ridgeland.Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Barnes and Dena Tingle Barnes, and by her husband Mike Gamblin. She is survived by her son Rick Gamblin (wife Debbie) of Brandon; her son Dr. Rance Gamblin (wife Tracie) of Akron, Ohio; her granddaughters Lauren Gamblin of Mississippi State and Anna Gamblin of Akron, Ohio; her sister, Billie Barnes Madison of Kosciusko; and several beloved nieces and nephews.Pallbearers were Laurence Galle, Tag Gamblin, Paxton Todd, Stacy Madison, Marty Gamblin and Danny Howell. The family members wish to express their heartfelt gratitude to Bobbie’s longtime caregivers, Annie Smith and Teletha Burks. Their loyal, attentive, patient, and compassionate care of Bobbie was a great comfort to us all.The family members also thank the staff and management of Brandon Court Nursing Center and of Peachtree Village for their care and concern.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (322 Eighth Ave., 7th fl., New York, NY 10001), the Henry’s Chapel Cemetery Fund, (10890 Rd. 383, Philadelphia, MS 39350), Broadmeadow United Methodist Church (4419 Broadmeadow St., Jackson, MS 39206), or a charity of the donor’s choice.
