JIMMY BRELANDWinnie L. Nicholson passed from this earthly existence on October 9, 2013.  Born in 1927 in the Linwood Community, she was the daughter of George Mat and Sally Watkins Nicholson.  Ms. Nicholson graduated from Linwood School, attended East Central Junior College, and worked at the Midland Shirt Factory before moving to Nashville, Tennessee.  Ms. Nicholson worked as a clerk typist for the Baptist Sunday School Board and at Belmont College (now University.)  She enjoyed using her wide network of friends to relocate and reconnect former graduates of Belmont. God gave Ms. Nicholson a large and loving heart.  Hers was the first birthday or Christmas card many people received each year, and she answered the smallest kindness with a thank you note.  At Leah Rose, the senior apartments where Ms. Nicholson lived for two decades, she baked pies, picked up mail, and did laundry for people who needed a little help.  She knew everyone’s name and always had a smile and inquiry about their health, grandchildren, or recent church service.     Ms. Nicholson was a member of Belmont Heights Baptist Church in Nashville before returning to Mississippi three years ago.  Watching the new building and membership grow at Linwood Baptist was one of her recent joys. Ms. Nicholson is survived by two sisters, Christine Gilbert of Union and Leota Barrett of Linwood, as well as dozens of nieces, nephews, and their descendants, who will miss her dearly.   The family would like to thank the staff of J. G.  Alexander Nursing Home for their loving care and Quality Hospice of Philadelphia for making her last days easier.     Memorial contributions may be made to Linwood Baptist Church, 11980 Road 325, Union, MS 39365.Pallbearers were Steve Breland, Andy Breland, Glen Sistrunk, Mark Nicholson, Jeffrey Breland and Billy Singleton, Jr.
