RAY SPENCEINTERMENT:  ANTIOCH CEMETERYMr. Smith, 68, of Union, died Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at his residence. Johnny D. Smith, Sr. was born in Lauderdale County, MS and was a life-long resident of Neshoba County, MS.  He served in the Army National Guard.  He was a mechanic by trade but worked much of his life as a heavy equipment operator and logger. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in the House community and had served as a deacon there.  He had a great love for the outdoors and farm life.  He enjoyed raising chickens and growing his garden.  He especially enjoyed sharing his tomatoes.  He was a good Christian example: as husband to Zelma, father to his children, grandfather to his grandchildren, and to his extended family and friends.  His dedication to hard work and "living off the fat of the land" made a lasting impression on all who knew him. Survivors include his wife, Zelma Smith of Union; daughters: Connie Bishop (Henry) of Meridian and Sarah Brown (Eddie) of Collinsville; sons: Danny Bishop (Sandi) of Collinsville, Thomas Bishop (Tammy) of Quitman, and Johnny D. Smith, Jr. (Lisa) of Linwood; ten grandchildren: Stephanie, Leah, Eric (mother-Susan); Danny; Justin, Jenni; Kaylee, Colby; Autumn, Brady (mother-Pam): one great grandchild: Brayden; two sisters: Thelma Pierce (Bobby) of Collinsville, Kathy McDonald (Lee) of Collinsville; one brother: Ronnie Smith (Melissa) of Collinsville; and many nieces and nephews.    Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his father, Guy H. Smith; his mother, Thelma C. Smith; two brothers, Houston and an infant brother. Pallbearers will be Eric Bishop, Danny Shannon, Justin Bishop, Andy McDonald, Alonzo Pollock, and Jenni Bishop.
