BUDDY COVINGTONMr. Jones, 85, of Philadelphia, died Thursday, August 8, 2013, at Neshoba County Nursing HomeHe was born in Kemper County but moved to Neshoba County early in life and had been a resident of the Bloomfield community for more than 50 years. He and his wife, Billie started Jones Grocery in 1959. They owned and operated the store for many years and later owned restaurants in DeKalb and Union. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during World War II and the Korean Conflict. Mr. Jones was a member of Bloomfield Congregational Methodist Church. Irving loved to laugh and tell jokes but more importantly he loved to make other people laugh.Survivors include his daughter, Patricia Stokes and her husband, Jerry of Philadelphia; granddaughter, Brandy Stokes; grandson, Adam Stokes; foster granddaughter, Esther Drury; great-grandchildren, Clay Drury and Annesley Drury; brother, Thomas Jones of Philadelphia; sister, Katherine Lundy of Philadelphia; close friend and caregiver, Scott Clay; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents, John T. and Effie Anderson Jones; wife, Billie Goodin Jones; sisters, Wadeen Jones Whittle and Frances Jones Parker Kelley.Pallbearers will be Jim Whittle, Jimmy Butler, Edward Jones, Nolen Stokes, Grady Pierce, Ronnie Lofton, Mitchell Edwards and Arron Chunn.
