ANDY MAYMr. Dencil A. Blount, 86, of Carthage, MS, died Friday, July 19, 2013, at his home.He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He was a past master of Masonic Lodge 469 in Belle Chasse, LA. He was a deacon in the First Baptist Church in Belle Chasse for over 35 years.He was born and reared in Winston County and made his home in Belle Chasse for over 40 years before returning home to Mississippi in 2005, residing in Carthage. When asked what he felt was his most important achievement in life, he unhesitating answered, “Being a good father to my children and a good husband to Imogene”. He retired in 1992 from his career in metal works and design to his true talent of woodcraft.He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Blount and Ola Hurst Blount; brothers, Dwight and Carl Blount.Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Imogene Nowell Blount; children, Steve A. Blount (Deborah) of Houston, TX, Daniel A. Blount (Terrie) of Brandon and Debra B. Hays (Rodger) of LaPlace, LA; grandchildren, Brandon A. Blount (Crystal), Joshua J. Blount (Pamela), Sherry E. Blount, Nathan H. Hays (Carrie), Erin E. Hays (Richard) and Grayson Rodgers; great-grandchildren, Katelyn T. Blount, Kirsten K. Blount, Holden M. Hays, Conner M. Hayes and Javannah M. Hays.The family would like to give special thanks to Antwan Harris, Bobbie Harris, Bonnie Longmire, Stay Home and Hospice for their care and support. Pallbearers were Brandon Blount, Joshua Blount, Nathan Hays, Richard Goodwin, Holden Hays, Joe Brown, Conner Hays and Jason Smith.
