DAN HOWARDEvelyn Deree Parkes Russell was born September 13, 1912 in the Madden community of Leake County to John and Gertie Stribling Parkes and moved to Philadelphia in the 1920's.  In 1936 she married Randolph Russell and with the exception of time in Baltimore, MD and St. Louis, MO during World War II and some years in Jackson her home was Philadelphia.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her daughter-in-law, Carolyn Russell.  She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Riggs (Wade) of Northport, AL and her son Randy Russell (Nancy) of Saint Simons Island, GA; grandchildren, Russ Riggs (Alexis), Kerri Eubanks (Trent), Jennifer Banker (Mike); step-grandchildren, Gracie Gaspard (Bryan), Missy Garrett (Brian), John Lovell (Rebekah); great-grandchildren, Braxton and Evelyn Eubanks; step-great-grandchildren, Nicholas Banker, Noah and Ethan Gaspard, Brooks Garrett, John Lucas Lovell; sisters, Louise Parkes Green of Ridgeland and Catherine Parkes Leigh of Philadelphia; and a brother, Cleveland Parkes of Starkville.  She was a much loved lady, known in the family as "the boss".  We'll miss her very much but were blessed to have her in all our lives for almost 101 years.
