CURTIS GUESS Mrs. Nelson, 81, died Thursday, January 17, 2013 at her residence. She was a native of Neshoba County and a longtime resident of the House community.  She worked at Garan and Nemanco where she retired as an inspector and she also helped on the family dairy farm.  Mrs. Nelson was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church where she worked in the nursery for many years and was a member of the Senior Adult Sunday School Class.  She was also a member of Farm Bureau and the Cattlemen’s Association. Survivors include her son, Steve (Barbara) Nelson of Philadelphia; daughters, Shelby Lynn (Ray) Stokes of Wiggins and Sheila (Hanna) Watson of Philadelphia; grandchildren, Shea (Scott) Hodges of Brandon, Leslie (Jarrod) Taylor of Brandon , Lisa (Jonathan) Jones of Kosciusko, Kim Schramm of Petal, Chris (Renee) Stokes of Madisonville, LA, Amy (Mike) Vassalli of Biloxi, Mendy (John) Bowen of Philadelphia, Sara Watson of Jackson, and Kyle (Huellen) Watson of Decatur; 20 great-grandchildren; and brother, Elton Slayton of Ellisville. Mrs. Nelson was preceded in death by her husband, Selby Nelson; parents, Ethel and James Dalton Slayton; brother, James Slayton; and an infant granddaughter, Christina Nelson. Pallbearers were Jack Reynolds, Thomas Knight, Joseph Knight, Gerald Elliott, Tommy Bane, Jerry Goforth, and Willie Charles Smith.  Honorary pallbearers are Pine Grove Baptist Church Deacons.
