J. P. "Purvis" Joyner

M.INTERMENT:  PINE GROVE CHURCH OF GOD CEMETERY DIXON COMMUNITYOFFICIATING: REV. D. KEITH HALLREV. JERRY GERMANY Mr. J. P. "Purvis" Joyner, 104, died Saturday, November 10, 2012 at his residence. Mr. Joyner was a native of Neshoba County and a longtime resident of Philadelphia, MS. He was retired from the U.S. Army serving during World War II in Italy and North Africa. He had worked in retail sales at Turner Hardware for several years. Mr. Joyner was a member of First Church of God in Philadelphia where he served as a worship leader and later as trustee. He was a member of American Legion. He had been a volunteer at the Neshoba County Nursing Home. Mr. Joyner was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Joyner; daughter, Julia Joyner; son, Allen Wright Joyner; six brothers and sisters. He is survived by three daughters, Judy Caverhill of Philadelphia, Jeri Barefoot (Howard) of Snellville, GA, and Susan Joyner Bobo (Wade) of Philadelphia; one son, Dale Joyner (LaRose) of Philadelphia; 14 grandchildren and their families; numerous nieces and nephews, and caregiver, Lula Robertson of Philadelphia.Pallbearers were Hal Posey, Ronny Joyner, John Goul, Mike Lewis, Robert Legg and Alan Parkes.  Honorary pallbearers were John Barefoot, Mike Goul and Bobby Winstead.
