MEMORIAL SERVICE:FRIDAY, OCTOBER 12, 201211:00 A. M.MCCLAIN-HAYS FUNERAL HOME Mrs. Tolbert, 86, of Meridian, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Meridian. She was born on January 30, 1926 and raised in Lauderdale County. She married James Claude Tolbert in 1941 and moved to Villa Park, IL for a short period. After moving back from Illinois, her family lived in Meridian, Collinsville and settled in House, MS where her family built a home in 1962. Mrs. Tolbert attended both Herbert Baptist Church and Antioch Baptist Church in House. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, preserving foods, planting flowers (hoping dad wouldn’t cut them down), quilting, sewing, crocheting, fishing and taking care of her family. Survivors include her daughter, Lisa (Allen) Carlisle of Lauderdale; son, John (Deborah) Tolbert of Rantoul, IL; grandsons, Wesley Carlisle of Lauderdale and Chad (Jennifer) Tolbert of Rantoul, IL; great-granddaughter, Callie Tolbert of Rantoul, IL; sister, Linda (Robert “Bobby”) Cave of Brunswick, GA; and brothers, Wallace David Ethridge of Villa Park, IL and Richard Calvin (Virginia) Ethridge of Decatur. Mrs. Tolbert was preceded in death by her husband, James Claude Tolbert; granddaughter, Crystal Carlisle; parents, David “Dave” and Nettie Vera Ethridge; sister, Mona Fae Ethridge Grice; and brother, Marion “Buck” Ethridge.
