DAVID UPSHAW Manuel Ray Goforth, born April 22, 1927, departed this world August 27, 2012 at the age of 85. He was a native of the House community and a longtime resident of the Sandtown community in Neshoba County. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II. Manuel Goforth was a business owner for 40 years dealing in industry, farming and many types of agriculture. He was longtime owner/operator of American Tarp and Awning. He was a former member and past president of the local Toastmasters Chapter and was Baptist by faith. Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Goforth; children, Andrew Goforth (Kathleen), Ray Goforth, Janet Goforth, Robin O’Neal Crocker (Paula), Wanda Upchurch (Marion), Johnny Crocker (Gayle), Terry Crocker (Tonya) and Suzette Smith (Todd); 23 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; siblings, Fanny Tolbert and Pat Goforth; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Onie Goforth; siblings, Hester Goforth, L.Z. Goforth, Iva Hester, Winfred Goforth and Charles Goforth; and children, Regina Diane Moore and Wilmer Roscoe “Buddy” Moore. Pallbearers are grandchildren: Sean Crocker, Shannon Crocker, Zach “Pete” Viohl, James Leach, Daniel Donald and Ray Paul Moffett.
