CARMEL CEMETERY  Mrs. Matthews, 94, died Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Laird Hospital. She was a longtime resident of the Linwood community and a retiree of Desota Wood Works in Union.  Mrs. Matthews was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughters, Sandra Turner (Michael) of Panama City, FL, Rebecca Belk of Union, Mary Adkins (Bennie Lee)  and Martha Cumberland, all of Philadelphia; her son, Buddy Matthews of Nashville, TN; her daughter-in-law, Brenda Matthews of Philadelphia; her grandchildren, Robby Belk (Teri) and Richard Belk (Cheryl), all of Hernando, Jonathan Belk (Julie) of Dallas, TX, Brian Cumberland (Hope) of Oxford, Derek Cumberland, Cindy Young (Chad) and Stacy Adkins (Melissa), all of Philadelphia; 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Matthews was preceded in death by her husband, Corris Matthews; daughter, Linda Matthews and a son, Earnest Matthews.   Pallbearers will be Robby Belk, Richard Belk, Jon Belk, Stacy Adkins, Derek Cumberland and Chad Young.  Honorary pallbearer will be Cindy Young.
