SERVICES: MONDAY, JUNE 11, 2012 MCCLAIN-HAYS CHAPEL11:00 A. M. VISITATION: SUNDAY, JUNE 10, 2012 MCCLAIN-HAYS FUNERAL HOME3:00 P. M. - 6:00 P. M. INTERMENT: EASTLAWN CEMETERYOFFICIATING: MINISTER RICK BENSON Mrs. Betty Williamson, 70, died Saturday, June 9, 2012 at her residence. She was born and reared in Talahatchie County and made her home in Philadelphia since 1966. She had been a longtime employee as an executive secretary with the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians. Mrs. Williamson was a member of Union Church of Christ in Union. Betty, “Nanny” to her grandchildren, loved flowers. Her infallible green thumb produced hundreds of plants and blossoms that were shared with many friends and family and even to people she had never met. Eccl 9:10 “Whatsoever your hands find to do, do with all your might...” was the guiding principle throughout her life. Her work ethic transcended all expectations. In her mind, it was imperative that she instill this value in her children and grandchildren. Hebrews 13:2 states that Christians should entertain strangers because they might be entertaining angels without knowing. This verse perfectly illustrated the extent of her hospitality and kindness. Besides the normal offerings of food and the comfort of her home for friends, it was common for her to open her home to strangers when she found out they were alone for the holidays. Through these principles, Betty influenced many people from all walks of life. We were not aware many times of the things she did for others. During Betty’s sickness we learned of many people who were influenced by her life. We as a family are not saying goodbye, but are saying see you later. We envy you, Nanny, knowing you are enjoying a mansion beyond the azure blue. Survivors include her husband, Sam Williamson of Philadelphia; daughter, Dayna Morgan (Kirk) of Philadelphia; sons, Brett Williamson (Stacy) of Billings, MT and Parish Williamson (Crystal) of Philadelphia; grandchildren, Betsy Fulton (Jon), Leslie Morgan, Micah Morgan, Asher Morgan, Brody Williamson, Seth Williamson, Andrew Salyer, Olivia Salyer and Jacob Salyer. Pallbearers will be Douglas Wilson, Davis Wilson, Wayne Criswell, Stan Daniels, Dale Brumfield and John Cumberland.
