STEPHEN EVANSMr. Keith Max Tingle, 79, of Carthage, died Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Baptist Medical Center-Leake in Carthage. He was born in Neshoba County, Philadelphia, MS. He graduated from Philadelphia High School in 1950, and enlisted in the U.S. Marines where he served four years, including a year in Korea with the 1st Marine Division. After receiving a discharge from the U.S. Marines as a staff sergeant in 1954, he attended the University of Southern Mississippi, receiving a BS in Geology and MS in Education, Chemistry and Biology. He later earned a degree in School Administration and an Educational Specialist degree in counseling from Mississippi State University. Keith served as science teacher and counselor at Forrest County Agriculture High School, taught science at Choctaw Central High School, and was employed with Scott County Schools until retirement. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, and participating in activities at First Baptist Church of Carthage where he served as Sunday School teacher, deacon, outreach, and on numerous church committees. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom Ben and Fannie Lee Tingle, and siblings Kermit Tingle and Ann Lila. His survivors include his wife, Billye Barrett Tingle, daughter Pamela Peoples, son-in-law Carl Peoples, and two grandchildren Jared and Joshua Peoples all of Carthage.Pallbearers were Kirby Nazary, Ronnie Ingram, David Weber, Paul Frazier, Chris Gray and Phillip Marler. His Sunday school class served as honorary pallbearers. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Carthage or the Baptist Children’s Village.
