DAN HOWARD Mrs. Vertie Cheatham, 86, died Sunday, March 4, 2012 at Neshoba County General Hospital. She was a native of Burke, Texas and had been a resident of Philadelphia for many years.  She retired from Neshoba Central as an elementary teacher where she taught from 1969 until 1986 in the 1st through the 5th grades.  Mrs. Cheatham was a member of First Baptist Church where she was a member of Amica Sunday school class.  She was a member of the Futura Club. Mrs. Cheatham was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Cheatham in 1983; sisters, Alta Wilson and Juanita Guthier; and brothers, Robert Burrous and Mark Burrous. Survivors include her son, Norman Christopher Cheatham of Dallas, TX; sister, Corine Maze of Rye, TX; and brother, Don Burrous and his wife, Shirle of Oatman, AZ.Pallbearers were Wayne Wilson, Robert Cheatham, Edward Cheatham, Blake Tidwell, Mark Cheatham and David Turk. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
