BUDDY COVINGTON Mrs. Jane Peebles Carter, 90, died Friday, January 20, 2012 at Fayette Medical Center in Fayette, Alabama. Mrs. Carter was a native and longtime resident of Neshoba County but had been a resident of Vernon, Alabama since 2008. She formerly worked as a seamstress at The Shirt Factory in Union and later at Burnley Shirt Factory in Meridian. Mrs. Carter was a member of Bloomfield Congregational Methodist Church and had formerly attended Southside United Methodist Church. Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Rudolph Carter in 2010 and seven brothers and sisters. Survivors include her daughters, Sandra Stokes of Montgomery, AL and Carolyn Boykin of Lawrenceville, GA; son, James Carter of Vernon, AL; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Otezel Adams of Meridian, Alma Eakes of Florida, Velma “Bill” Morris and Zelma “Tut” Henley, both of Philadelphia; brothers, Cecil Peebles of Meridian, Henry Peebles and Claud Peebles, Jr., both of Philadelphia; and numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Pallbearers: Scott Carter, Christopher Carter, Brian Carter, Keith Carter, Benjamin Boykin, Everett Story, Jr., Brian Alfreds, Cindy Stokes, Kimberly Story, Michelle Alfreds, Stephanie Jane Swanson and Brian Swanson.
