DAN HOWARD Mrs. Smith, 83, of Clarksdale, died Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at Flowers Manor in Clarksdale.She was a native of Neshoba County and had made her home in Clarksdale since 1976.  She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Clarksdale.  Mrs. Smith was a past resident of Meridian and York, AL.  She and her late husband, Dick Smith, formerly owned and operated the Sumter County Journal in York, AL.  Survivors include one daughter, Dixie Smith of Philadelphia; one son, Tom Smith of Madison; four grandchildren, Brian Smith, Kathleen Smith, Shelley Smith, and Samantha Smith; and one great-grandchild, Aubrey Smith. Pallbearers:  Mike Tinsley, Robert Owens, Philip Weinberg, Bob Graves, Joseph Knight, and Thomas Knight. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to MS Animal Rescue League 5221 Greenway Drive Ext., Jackson, MS 39204 or MS Sports Hall of Fame 1152 Lakeland Drive, Jackson, MS 39216.
