NESHOBA CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL GYMNASIUMJohn Christopher Holland, 42, passed away Monday in Neshoba County, Mississippi, where he lived most of his life. John graduated from Neshoba Central in 1987. He was an avid and talented drummer and captain on the drum line there, as well as being on the drum line at ECCC in the Collegians and also at Southern Miss. John had been in law enforcement since 1993, most recently with Neshoba County Sheriff's Department working as the School Resource Officer at Neshoba Central. He went to many classes and programs to expand his knowledge of his career and what he loved to do. He was trained in Anti-terrorism, Homeland Security Fire Arms Instruction, Glock instructor, Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Trainer, School Safety, and how to be an amazing role model among many others. He regularly participated in charity events and fundraisers--including motorcycle rides--for his "brothers in blue"; anything he could do for a fellow officer. He also enjoyed anything Southern Miss., where he was in the KA fraternity and where he graduated with a criminal justice degree. His greatest joy was his family, who will miss him dearly. He is preceded in death by his father, James "Jim" B. Holland, of Tucker and his son, Joshua Warren of Philadelphia. He is survived in death by his wife, Mary Holland of Philadelphia; his mother, Jane Holland of Tucker; his brothers, Jim Holland and his wife, MaryNell of Ridgeland, Bob Holland and his wife, Kim of Grenada; and his sister, Teresa Holland Talbert and her husband, Eddie of Philadelphia. He had one son, Steryot and his wife, Bethane Franklin Holland of Philadelphia, and five bonus children that he readily accepted as his own--Erin Warren Goldmon, Stefanie Warren, Jonathan Warren, Joshua Warren, and Jennifer. He had one grandson that was his pride and joy, and his football buddy, Adam Wade Holland. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Adam Holland, Madison Holland, Olivia Talbert, Taylor Holland, Dyron Talbert, Chace Holland, Jessica Savage, Sydney Savage, and Bradley Savage. He was an astounding man, an unbelievable deputy, a great son, an incredible brother, a reliable friend, and an even better husband and father. He will be sorely missed around the school, town, and Neshoba County. No one can fill the void that is created with this loss. Death brings sorrow, but memories comfort us all in this great time of trial. He is also survived by the many lives he touched in his astoundingly short life, and the memories they will cherish for a lifetime.Pallbearers: Donnie Adkins, Shawn Holley, Kenny Moore, John Lilley, Ralph Sciple, Grant Myers, Paul Payne and Ken Spears. All Sheriff's officers will serve as honorary pallbearers.
