M.INTERMENT:  COOKS CHAPEL Mr. Marshall, 75, of Meridian, died Friday, May 6, 2011 at Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was owner and operator of his business, Southern Body Works from 1979 until his retirement in 2004. Sam was an avid country music fan and enjoyed serving as President of the Jimmie Rodgers Foundation from 1985 until 1995. He loved to travel and was a member of the Mockingbird Good Sam Club for a number of years. Sam served in the U.S. Army as a member of the Army Intelligence Agency, Fort Devens, Massachusetts from 1957 until 1959. His kind and sincere personality made him a friend to those with whom he came in contact. He was a very positive man always looking for the good in everyone he met and each situation with which he dealt. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Marion where he enjoyed many good friends. Sam was a family man always putting them first in all that he did, at times working two jobs to see that their needs were met. He will be greatly missed but his love for his family and many friends will be forever. Survivors include his devoted wife of 54 years. Mary Ann; daughter, Martha Gore and her husband, Tony of Meridian; sons, Scott Marshall and his wife, Lisa of Meridian, Thomas Alan Marshall and his wife, Sarah of Ashburn, VA; grandchildren, Amber Marshall Brannon, Kyle Gore, Taylor Gore, Megan Marshall and Lauren Marshall; great-granddaughter, McKenzie Brannon; step-grandchildren, Alyssa Roberts and her husband, Steven, Austin Check; sister, Barbara Ann Burgin of Mobile; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Hazel Marshall; brothers, Roscoe and Bev Marshall. Pallbearers will be his nephews: Rocky Marshall, David Marshall, Robbie Marshall, Greg Burgin, Jeremy Thomas and son-in-law, Tony Gore.
