SERVICES:  TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 15, 20112:00 P. M. MCCLAIN-HAYS CHAPELVISITATION:  MONDAY, FEBRUARY 14, 20115:00 - 8:00 P. M. INTERMENT:  MCLAIN CHAPEL CEMETERY   Richard Lee "R.L." Posey passed away at Atwood Personal Care Home in Philadelphia, MS on February 12, 2011 just five days before his 83rd birthday.   Richard and his wife Mary were longtime residents of the Hopewell community in Kemper County before moving to Philadelphia, MS in 2002.  Richard grew up in Neshoba County.  He had a deep love for our country so he enlisted in the Army at the early age of 18 and was in service for 14 years.  During that time, he was stationed in Georgia, Texas, Alaska and Germany.  Richard attained the rank of Sergeant before being medically retired for injuries sustained during his time in service.  He was an avid fisherman for many years.  He was well known for his wonderful sense of humor and he loved to make his family and friends laugh.  He could always be counted on for a humorous observation of almost any situation.  He will be greatly missed by family and friends.   Richard is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Weathers Posey of Philadelphia; his two daughters, Denise Shepherd of Marietta, GA, and Doris Guice of West Monroe, LA; his two beloved grandsons, Jason Shepherd of Sydney, Australia and David Guice of McKinleyville, CA; his sisters, Lou Howse of Monroe, LA, Jean Smith of Hazlehurst, MS and numerous nieces and nephews.   He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard Edmond Posey and Minnie Lee Edwards Posey and his two brothers.
