FRED BRITTONMr. Wolverton, 80, died Friday, February 11, 2011 at Neshoba County General Hospital.   He was a native of the New Ireland Community of Newton County and a longtime resident of Philadelphia, MS.  He was a retired insurance agent and operated Shelter Insurance Agency in Philadelphia for approximately 20 years.  Mr. Wolverton was a member of First United Methodist Church.  He was a member of the  Neshoba County Shrine Club, Philadelphia Masonic Lodge and Philadelphia Rotary Club.  He was a longtime pilot and flight instructor.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force,  a member of the  American Legion and had served in Mississippi National Guard for 14 years.   He is survived by his wife, Arline May Wolverton of Philadelphia; daughter, Judy Wolverton Palmer and husband, Joe of Lebanon, TN; grandchildren, Tony DeWeese and wife, Michele and Bryan DeWeese and wife, Allison, all of Madison; great-grandchildren, Zachary, Nicholas,  Harrison and Thomas DeWeese; sister, Mary Lang of Conehatta; brothers, Donald Wolverton of Hattiesburg, Paul Wolverton of Sebastopol , Eddie Wolverton of Union and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.   He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Wolverton; mother, Mary Wolverton; stepmother, Grace Wolverton; daughter, Jean Wolverton DeWeese; brother, Harold Wolverton and sister, Lynett Ezell.   In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to: First United Methodist Church, 563 East Main Street, Philadelphia, MS 39350 or to your favorite charity.
