JOHN STODGHILL Mrs. Max Willard Byars Breazeale, 90, died Wednesday, February 9, 2011, at Wayne General Hospital in Waynesboro. She was born March 21, 1920, in Choctaw County to Katherine Lee (Mabus) and Travis Jackson Byars. She attended Zion School and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Mississippi State University in 1965. She began her teaching career in 1948 at Zion School in Neshoba County, taught in the Atkinson County, GA school district, and at Beat Four School in Wayne County. From 1965 until retiring in 1982, she taught at Howard II Elementary School in Biloxi. Mrs. Breazeale loved to travel and visited all 48 contiguous states in the U.S. with her devoted husband, the late Denson Breazeale, and traveling companions Rebecca Norsworthy and the late John Norsworthy. She enjoyed vegetable gardening and all types of flower thrived in her care. She was a long time member of and passionate fundraiser for the Wayne County Rescue React. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma.Survivors include her sons Phillip (Charlotte) Breazeale of Philadelphia, Denver (Peggy) Breazeale of Pascagoula, and Leslie (Cathy) Breazeale of Saucier; brothers Jack (Helen) Byars of Gulfport, Roy Byars of Philadelphia, and Hal (Myra) Byars of Philadelphia; sisters Helen Tullos of Philadelphia and Frances Hodgins of Tuscaloosa, AL; 8 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.Mrs. Breazeale is predeceased by her beloved husband of 70 years, Frazier Denson Breazeale, her parents, brother Ralph Byars, and great-granddaughter, Kayla Nicole Hughes.Pallbearers will be Frank Breazeale, Jackson Breazeale, Kyle Breazeale, Terry Watts, Patrick Smith, Greg Hughes, and Andy Evans. Honorary pallbearers are Tim Chudzik, Daniel Edgar, and Arthur Lee Nored.The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church, 810 Azalea Drive, Waynesboro, MS 39367.
