James Madison Porter

M.INTERMENT:  CEDARLAWN CEMETERY Mr. Porter, 91, died Sunday, January 16, 2011 at MS State Veterans Home in Kosciusko.   He was a native of Neshoba County and a longtime Philadelphia resident.  He retired from the U.S. Postal Service and did plumbing as a hobby.  Mr. Porter was a charter member and a fifty plus year deacon of North Calvary Baptist Church.  He was a member of NARFE.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II and was a member of the American Legion.   Mr. Porter was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude H. Porter in 2004; parents, William and Lena Porter; and sisters, Agnes Rushing and Mary Breedlove.   Survivors include his daughter, Frances Runnels and her husband, Lawrence of Philadelphia; sons, Dr. Jimmy Porter and his wife, Tommye Lynn of Jackson, and Michael Porter of Philadelphia; grandchildren, Larry Runnels, Missy Fielder, Nikki Porter Burke, Maribeth Porter, Chad Porter, and Casie Porter Gonzalez; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Bobbie J. Mills of Philadelphia; brothers, Earl W. Porter and his wife, Eddrye of Axis, AL, and W.T. Porter and his wife, Jeanene of Philadelphia; and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.
