DAN HOWARD Mr. Trest, 81, of Philadelphia, died Friday, January 7, 2011 at his residence.   He was a native of Leake County and a graduate of Lena High School.  He graduated from East Central Community College and then was called to active duty.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean Conflict.  After returning home, he graduated from Mississippi State University and then moved to Dallas, Texas and pursued his career in transportation and met his wife of 52 years.  Henry's career moved them to Wayne County, Mississippi, Birmingham, Alabama, and then to his final residence to Philadelphia, Mississippi.   He served as the Mississippi State Commander of the American Legion.  He was the adjutant for Philadelphia American Legion Post 138.  He was an active member and deacon of First Baptist Church of Philadelphia.  He was an active member of the Carpenters for Christ based in Birmingham, AL.  He was an active Gideon and past president for the Woodmen of the World local chapter in Philadelphia.    Survivors include his wife, Patricia A. Trest of Philadelphia; two sons, Bryan Trest and his wife, Penny of Waynesboro and Philip K. Trest and his wife, Candace of Corinth; five grandchildren, Patrick Trest, Joshua Trest, Zachary Trest, Mackenzie Trest and Alyssa Trest; three sisters, Jewel Pigg of Carthage, Clarice Rasco of Meridian and Carolyn Stewart of Lena; one brother, Lewis Trest of Carthage and a host of nieces and nephews.
