FRED BRITTON Jennie Lee Harpole Dees , 90, of Philadelphia, MS, passed away on December 24, 2010, at Neshoba General Hospital, surrounded by her family. A lifelong resident of Neshoba County, Mrs. Dees was a 1937 graduate of Philadelphia High School. She spent a number of years working at Dees Department Store, alongside her beloved husband of over 50 years, Melvin Dees. After retiring from Dees, she enjoyed her role as homemaker and cook extraordinaire at her Poplar Avenue home. Her hobbies further included reading and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Philadelphia. Mrs. Dees was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jefferson Davis Harpole. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jeff Harpole, and a daughter, Peggy Dees. Survivors include one sister, Helen Harpole Latimer of Starkville; one brother, Hugh “Boots” Harpole of Philadelphia; one daughter, Susan Dees Rosamond of Philadelphia; two grandchildren, Jamie Knight of Laurel and William M. Rosamond of Ridgeland; and one great grandchild, Jack William Rosamond of Ridgeland. A devout Christ follower, Jennie made it a point to serve others and live as a witness for Jesus. Always, but especially in later years, Jennie spent many hours in prayer for those that she loved. Known as Ms. Jennie, Jidge, and Maw, she was loved and adored by many. She will be greatly missed by all that had the great pleasure of knowing her. Pallbearers will be Jimmie Bell, Bud Dees, Terry Jordan, Harold Lewis, Rudy Posey, Jimmy Prince, Larry Stribling, Robert Thomas, Robert Turnage, David Vowell, and A.T. Williams.
