DAN HOWARD Billie Barnes Madison died Sunday, September 20, 2015, at the MS State Veterans Home in Kosciusko after an extended illness. She was born July 22, 1934, and grew up in the Fork Community in Neshoba County. After marriage to Kenneth A. Madison on June 26, 1954, she lived in several places before returning to Philadelphia with Kenneth and her three children in 1972, where she lived on Poplar Avenue until shortly after Kenneth's death in 2008.She was a meticulous and creative seamstress and the creator of gorgeous crocheted and embroidered pieces. She was an avid gardener and tireless homemaker as well as a gifted pianist, playing the piano " by ear". Her entrepreneurial spirit was reflected in management of M & M Delivery and Household Rentals.Billie was involved in church work at First Baptist Church and the Church of Philadelphia as well as Eastern Star, Philadelphia Historical Society, Futura Club, Philadelphia Public Schools and other civic and community endeavors.Above all, though, she was a devoted and supportive wife and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth A. Madison; her parents Herbert and Dena Barnes; her sister and brother-in-law, Bobbie and Mike Gamblin; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lessie and Ethel Madison.She is survived by her daughters, Krystal Madison Todd and husband, Paxton of Madison and Debbie Madison Howell and husband, Danny of Kosciusko; her son, J. Stacy Madison and wife, Heather of Columbus; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.Pallbearers were Danny Howell, Paxton Todd, Miller Todd, John Todd, Allen Howell, Gary Loper, Greg Smith and Rick Gamblin. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Palmer Home for Children, Alzheimer’s Research or your favorite charity. The family wishes to thank the staff of MS State Veterans Home for their care, love and compassion shown to our mother during her stay there.
