C. G. (Chad) White

(Chad) White, 80, died Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at Baptist Hospital in Jackson, MS.  Funeral services will be at noon on Saturday, September 21 at Hope Baptist Church in Philadelphia, MS.  Visitation is scheduled from 10 am-noon at the church.  Chad was born and raised in Neshoba County, MS.  He attended Coldwater High School and East Central Jr. College.  After serving in the U.S. Army, Chad returned to his home state and began a career in the auto body industry.  From 1953-1963 he managed the body shop at Lloyd Ford in Jackson. Chad opened Capitol Body Shop, Mississippi’s first certified body shop, in 1963.  Over the next 50 years Capitol Body Shop would go on to set high industry standards due to Chad’s emphasis on customer service and top-quality workmanship.  After turning over the reins of leadership at Capitol Body Shop to his son, Doug, Chad spent the last 20 years operating Cedar Ridge Farm in Philadelphia.  Chad was a strong supporter of Alcoholic Anonymous.  A co-founder of Raymond Road AA Group in 1986, Chad worked diligently to help people achieve sobriety.  Many people’s lives were positively changed as a result of Chad’s support.   Chad is survived by Anna Lofton White, his wife of 62 years; his son Doug White (wife Carol) of Madison, daughter Gwenette Broome (husband Doug) of Natchez; two grandchildren, Whitney White Wilson (husband Dale) of Madison and Bradley Broome of Brandon as well as three sisters: Vonceil Lety, Belvery Duncan, and Sylvia Mars.
