ERIC SHARP Mr. Luke, 75, of Philadelphia, died Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at his residence. He was a native of the Preston community in Kemper County and a longtime resident of Philadelphia. He graduated from Philadelphia High School in 1956 and East Central Junior College in 1958 where he played basketball. He was a 1962 graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi. He worked as an industrial engineer for U.S. Motors from October 1962 until his retirement in May 2000. Mr. Luke was a member of Longino United Methodist Church. He helped promote and develop the City of Philadelphia park system with Rack Burt and coached little league baseball. Mr. Luke served in the Mississippi National Guard. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Toy Luke of Philadelphia; daughters, Stephanie Moore and her husband, Neal of Philadelphia, Emily Harrell and her husband, Mike of Edinburg and Evelyn Adcock Burt of Philadelphia; son, Billy Adcock and his wife, Ramona of Philadelphia; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Thedra Ezelle and her husband, Harold of Philadelphia; and brother, Therrell Luke and his wife, Phyliss of Lakeland, FL. Mr. Luke was preceded in death by his parents, R.W. and Modena Luke. Pallbearers were Matt Burt, David Burt, Chris Harrell, Justin Harrell, J.J. Lundy and Barry Smith. Honorary pallbearers were Bob Burns, Lyn Yates, Willie Horn, Jeff Lundy, Donny Page and Joe Willis.
